Dry eyes

Dry eyes are one of the common ophthalmic diseases. They are caused by insufficient and uneven secretion of tears in the eyes, or excessive evaporation of tears, which makes the tears unable to properly keep the surface of the eyeball moist. Bad eye habits such as looking at mobile phone screens, watching TV, and using air conditioners for a long time are prone to dry eyes.

 Acupuncture has the effects of running qi and blood, connecting internal organs, activating meridians, and nourishing the eyes. Medical research shows that acupuncture is an effective means of treating dry eyes.

The key to treating dry eyes is to eliminate symptoms, improve vision, restore normal ocular surface physiological structure, and effectively control the progression of the disease. Therefore, acupuncture treatment is mainly based on acupoints around the eyes, such as Tongziliao, Jingming, Yangbai, Yuyao, Sizhukong, etc.

In addition, Baihui, Zanzhu, Sibai, Taiyang, and Fengchi are also commonly used acupoints for treating dry eyes. By stimulating the acupoints around the eyes, it can directly increase the secretion of tears and improve the stability of the tear film.

Amblyopia in children

Amblyopia is an eye disease that seriously endangers children’s visual function. If it is not treated in time, it can cause amblyopia to worsen or even blindness.

The basic principle of acupuncture treatment of amblyopia is to regulate the functional state of the internal organs by stimulating the adjustment function of the meridian qi.  The basic treatment principle is to nourish the kidney yang, wake up the brain and improve eyesight, especially for the treatment of anisometropia amblyopia and high refractive error amblyopia.
